Facial Implants/Augmentation
Several different areas of the face can be improved by the use of facial implants. These procedures can be performed under either local anesthesia, intravenous sedation, or general anesthesia at the hospital depending on your individual needs and implant location. The chin, cheekbones, lips, and nasolabial folds can be augmented in this fashion.
Chin surgery can either increase or decrease the size of the chin. The chin can either be moved back or forward, or it can be augmented with the use of a chin prosthesis. This works best for a person with a receding or protruding chin who has a normal bite.
Cheek implants can improve the appearance of the face with a flat contour due to underdeveloped cheekbones. Cheek implants can help to create the appearance of higher, more prominent cheekbones. These are usually placed from incisions made inside the mouth.
Digital photography and computer imaging can be used to determine the amount of improvement after the procedure.
Post-operative information
Some swelling and bruising of the face is to be expected. This can be minimized by the use of ice and light activity. You may experience numbness, tingling, or tightness around the treated area which is usually temporary. Antibiotics may be prescribed to prevent infection.
